The light frame is made of a glass-fibre reinforced technopolymer. The extreme low profile of the APX and the design without protrusions and sharp corners makes the carry and extraction from the holster extremely simple. Ease of use was the main criterion that guided the development of the APX. The bolt stop lever has been positioned on both sides of the frame for better operability even by left-handed shooters. The Beretta APX features a unique system, patented in the world, which allows the user to deactivate the internal firing pin without having to pull the trigger before proceeding with disassembly. The safety on the trigger prevents the involuntary activation of the latter, in case of dropping the gun. When the trigger is intentionally pulled,
The manual safety on the frame, the safety on the magazine and the indicator in the chamber are available on request. To make it easier for left-handed shooters, the magazine release button is easily reversible to either side. The three white dots of the sights are designed for fast target acquisition. Sights can be removed in favor of installing other types of sights. Thanks to a new system patented by Beretta, the pistol adapts to different types of hands, with interchangeable fedoras of different sizes and customizable configurations. The pistol comes standard with a Picatinny rail under the barrel.
